Our Mission…

We seek to ensure ALL children in the West Hartford community have access to meaningful, empowering and culturally relevant outdoor learning experiences while staying true to our values around equity, anti-racism, stewardship and community.

We are committed to these core values:

• Equity: Prioritizing outreach to ALL neighborhoods in our community.

• Anti-racism: Creating an intentionally diverse root2RISE team and understanding the barriers between BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) communities and the outdoors. The living soil becomes quite literally the ‘common ground’ from which our communities can reveal the truth of our shared histories and begin healing.

• Stewardship: Understanding our home through place-based education. Think locally, act locally and connect globally.
